Comcast/TV Works were the initial force behind EBIF (Enhanced Binary Interchange Format). With Tru-2-way cable operators, advertising, and networks can have a two way channel over the tv broadcast. This enables activity such as social networking, rating and polling, requests for more information, drill downs to more feature rich ads to name a few. Here are original concepts used for development and testing as well as a look at future implementation. I was the lead designer on this multi year project, working with the engineering team at Comcast Mill VAlley office defining the feature set and widgets that would be part of the initial EBIF deployment. The feature sets are still impart of the integrated experience of the EBIF applications being deployed today.
